Price alerts for DIY and tools
DIY stores run promotions in waves, and the same tin of paint or box of screws can cost a quarter more at the next shop. DipCatch reads the price every day and, where the page states the size, does the sum per litre or per piece, so you know which shop and which week.
What this looks like
A 10 litre tin of wall paint is €23.09 at hubo.nl, which is €2.31 per litre. A 5 litre tin elsewhere at €14.99 is €3.00 per litre. DipCatch shows both per litre, so the bigger tin wins on the page and not only in your head.
Getting the most out of it
- Track the size you use. A 2.5 litre tin and a 10 litre tin are two products, and the price per litre decides.
- Add a project list before you start. Paint, filler and screws for one room are worth watching for a few weeks.
- For tools, track the kit you want, battery included or not. The same drill without a battery is a different price.
Shops we know well
Paste a product link from any other shop as well. Most shops work. We only set a shop up ourselves when its page is too tricky to read otherwise.
Common questions
Which DIY shops work?
Paste a product link. We set up Hubo, Toolstation, bol.com and Amazon.nl ourselves. Gamma, Karwei and Praxis refuse our reader for now, so they are not in the list. Other webshops often work as well, and you see what we found before you save it.
Does it compare paint per litre?
Yes, where the page says how much is in the tin. For screws and plugs DipCatch shows the price per piece when the page states how many are in the box.
Are the prices incl. VAT?
DipCatch compares the price a consumer pays. A shop that shows only a price excl. VAT is marked on the product page and left out of the comparison.
Is the "was" price on the page a real discount?
When DipCatch has read a shop through the 30 days before an offer, the product page puts the lowest price it saw there beside the claim.
Do loyalty-card prices count?
No. DipCatch reads the price anyone can pay on the product page. A price that needs a card or an account is not on the page it reads.
How often are prices checked?
Once when you add the link, then once a day on the free plan and every six hours on Pro.
